Amy Fehrmann, MD
I am a double boarded Adult and Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. I take a relaxed approach to care and believe it is important to create an environment of comfort and mutual respect.
My interest in Psychiatry came from a lifetime working with special needs children and recognizing a gap in the system where kids who were struggling with communicating their needs or emotions in the stereotypical way fell through the cracks. After starting on my journey to become a psychiatrist, I developed a passion for Child Psychiatry and became trained extensively in childhood trauma and its management. I work with both child and parent, recognizing kids aren't the only "patient" in this situation, the whole family is affected by mental health struggles.
I also began to recognize that as a woman, there is far less representation in medicine. I began to specialize in women's mental health as well as a way to provide women with an outlet and a physician who sees and understands them, recognizes the unique challenges of being a woman in society and can help navigate through some of life's toughest battles.

As I've progressed through my career, I have worked hard to be a support for marginalized populations and hope to create a space that is open to all who enter and works hard to decrease the ever-present stigma of mental health treatment. I practice a holistic approach, looking at an individual as a whole and work towards creating a life worth living and finding joy in.
